Professional division championship format

The top 48 pros based on overall point standings from the 2008 season will qualify to compete in the Forrest Wood Cup. The event will feature an exciting bracket-style format plus an unprecedented cash purse of $1.5 million.

Opening Round Round (Days 1 and 2) Full field - Pro anglers are seeded according to year-end standings and compete head-to-head (see bracket) combining the first two-day weights to determine the 24 anglers who will advance to the semifinal round. Non-advancing anglers are ranked based on total weight and paid at the end of Day 2.

Semifinal Round (Day 3) - The 24 pros advancing from the opening round will continue in bracket-style competition and compete head-to-head on Day 3. Twelve anglers will advance to the final round.

Final Round (Day 4) - Twelve anglers compete in the final round.

Co-angler division championship format

The top 48 co-anglers based on overall point standings from the 2008 season will qualify to compete in the Forrest Wood Cup.

Opening Round (Days 1 and 2) Full Field - Co-anglers compete on Day 1 and Day 2 to determine the top 24 (based on accumulated weight) who will advance to the next round. Anglers finishing 25-48 are paid at the end of Day 2.

Final Round (Day 3) - The 24 co-anglers advancing from the opening round will start over at zero and fish one day to determine their final position based on their catch weight from Day 3. Co-angler competition concludes on Day 3 and anglers are paid by order of finish.
