Notes: Lake Guntersville is still on fire and one of the hottest bass fishing destinations in the country. Multiple reports have many bass being caught with most being 2 to 3 pounds, but some as large as 8 to 10 pounds. Water temperature is holding between 48 to 53 degrees, and clarity is very clear. Most bass are being found in 3 to 6 feet of water, but some anglers are having luck a little deeper from 8 to 10 feet. Rattlebaits, crankbaits, and the Alabama rig are all expected to be factors in this tournament.
Where: North Carolina Division

Notes: They are catching fish on Lake Norman. A state record was broken on the lake just two weeks ago, as a 6.97 pound spotted bass was caught using a crankbait, trumping the previous record of 6.5 pounds from 2003. Water temperature is right around 50 degrees, and clarity is clear. Drop-shotting, crankbaits, and the Alabama rig should be popular choices amongst the tournament anglers.
Where: Okie Division
Broken Bow Lake
Beavers Bend Resort Park
Hwy. 259 N Carson Creek Access
Broken Bow, Okla.
Hosted by the Broken Bow Chamber/McCurtain County Tourism Authority

Notes: Broken Bow Lake is currently a few feet above normal water level, which may alter the strategy of the tournament anglers. The bass bite has been above average for this time of year, as they are still in pre-spawn mode. Water temperature is being reported to be in the upper 40s. Angler versatility will be a key factor in this tournament, as fish are being caught on multiple different techniques. Jigs, spinnerbaits, and swimbaits will all be used by various anglers. The angler that can figure out which technique is hot on that day will win this tournament.
Where: Savannah River Division
Clarks Hill Lake
Wildwood Park
6212 Holloway Rd.
Appling, Ga.
Hosted by the Columbia County Community & Leisure Services
To sign up and fish this event, click here.
Notes: The bass bite has improved dramatically over the last two weeks at Clarks Hill Lake as the warmer temperatures are pushing the bass into pre-spawn mode. Water temperature is in the mid-50 degree range, and clarity is very clear. The fish are moving shallow, but some winter pattern bass can still be caught in the 20 to 25 feet range. Crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and jigs are expected to be hot during this tournament.
Walmart BFL overview
The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, with 120 tournaments throughout the season, five in each division. The top 40 boaters and co-anglers from each division qualify for a regional tournament and are competing to finish in the top six, which then qualifies them for one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the Walmart BFL All-American presented by Chevy. The 2012 BFL All-American is being held May 17 – 19 on the Potomac River in National Harbor, Md. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
