Terms

year-class
Fish of a given species that all were spawned in the same year or at the same time. A group of animals born in the same year. Also year-brood.


yellow bass
A specific species in the bass family.


yellow cat
A flathead catfish.


yellow perch
A member of the perch family along with walleye, sauger and dozens of darter species.


yellowfin tuna
One of the many tunas in the Scombridae family.


yellowtail
A Pacific jack related to jack crevalle, permit and pompano. Not to be confused with yellowtail snapper or yellowtail flounder, although the term yellowtail can be used on second reference with these latter species.


yo-yo
1. An automatic fishing device. 2. A method of vertical fishing with jigs.
