CollegeFishing.com: How were you introduced to fishing?
Ethan George: My dad and grandfather both introduced me to fishing at a very young age. Since then I have always been fishing. Around the age of 13 I was introduced to competitive bass fishing by a friend and his dad. We would fish local Thursday night tournaments. My love for the sport continued to grow through high school. My senior year in high school I was able to buy a bass boat, and then I started fishing as many tournaments as possible.
Josh Seale: My introduction into the sport was pretty typical. My dad is a pretty good fisherman and at an early age he started bringing me along when he would fish local club tournaments.
CollegeFishing.com: What style/method of fishing are you most comfortable with?
Ethan George: I’m most comfortable fishing swimbaits and crankbaits.
Josh Seale: Growing up in West Texas you kind of learned to flip as that was the predominant method. As I have grown up I have become more versatile and there really isn’t too much I feel like I am at a disadvantage at. If I had to pick one, I’d definitely say I love throwing/flipping a jig. In the last year my dad has started making his own football-head and flipping jigs, so naturally that is what I feel more comfortable throwing.
CollegeFishing.com: What did it feel like to qualify for the 2013 FLW College Fishing National Championship? How do you plan to prepare for the big event?
Ethan George: It took a little while for the feeling to sink in. But just to think of what was accomplished is an awesome feeling, especially considering what this could lead up to. Hopefully we will get a chance to take a trip to the tournament waters before off-limits to take a look around and to get a feel for the lake which neither of us has ever been to. We have already researched, studied maps and talked about how we plan to tackle this tournament.
Josh Seale: Honestly, it was a relief. My previous partner Austin and I had come so close the two previous years, but unfortunately we came up short. So to make it to the final day of (the 2012) regional championship was a feeling I can’t even explain. I definitely feel blessed.
CollegeFishing.com: Tell us something interesting about yourself that most people wouldn’t know.
Ethan George: I own my own business.
Josh Seale: Wow, umm … I have developed a strong liking for classical music in the last year. I don’t know if it’s because it relaxes me while I am working or what, but I find myself listening to it quite often.
