I have the Gen2 hds8 w/insight and Gen2 hds7 (neither is touch screen) with structure scan, installed on my ranger 520vx. The hds8 is located at the driver's side and hds 7 is located at the bow. The hds8 has a skimmer transducer which is currently mounted to left of the of water intake for the livewell system and the structure scan transducer, using the metal mounting bracket is mounted to the right of the drain hole on the boat. I originally had both transducers mounted, on what I think is referred to as the step, what the motor is directly mounted to. However, when traveling on the lake, when the boat was on pad I lost signal of the lake's bottom on both transducers. So, when trying to diagnose the problem, the gentleman who installed the units rode on the back of my boat to observe the transducers when the boat was on pad. He looked over the boat and concluded that both transducers were completely out of the water, which is why we decided to move the transducers to their current locations. Unfortunately the problem still exists for the structure scan, no signal when the boat is on pad. I have read the manual and I still can't fully understand all of the functions and programming of these units. I live in Missouri, and I am looking to hire a Lowrance representative or someone nearby that can offer assistance in mounting and programming these units and on the water tutorial instruction. With the price of these units, I want to get the most these units have to offer and hopefully locate and catch more fish.

Hey folks. I am in the market for a new boat. I am planning to purchase an aluminum bass boat. I have looked at Tracker, Triton and Ranger in either 17 or 18 foot versions. The Tracker is probably all the boat I will need, but I plan to upgrade the main motor from the 60 four stroke to the 75 Optimax. And if I go with the 18 footer, I plan to go with the 115 Pro XS Mercury. Does anyone here have any past experiences with these boat/ motor combos? Also, should I upgrade to 24 volt trolling motor? I dont know if the extra battery requirement is worth a few extra pounds of thrust? The Tritons and Rangers are brand new models, but from what I hear they are now manufacturing their own aluminum boats, where in the past the only re-badged other brands. Any help will be appreciated.

Fished High Rock in North Carolina yesterday. Just had to vent about the idiots I witnessed loading and unloading bass boats. I was in line behind them and also had another very irate angler behind me waiting on all of us. The first guy was unloading a bass boat. He had a lady with him and instead of letting her put him in the water, he has her holding a rope for the boat. That is all well and good, maybe she couldn't drive. I don't know. Anyway, he backs the boat until it is almost floating, then gets out and proceeds to pull it over to the dock. Why did he need her to do anything? The guys beside him were trying to load a bass boat, and the guy driving the boat left it about 2 feet short of the bow stop. So the driver pulls him out just enough to get him out without getting his feet wet. Then they are both trying to winch the boat up to the stop. They then pull the boat up a little more, and proceed to start stowing rods, securing trailer straps and the like. Well the guy behind me by now has had enough so he gets out of his truck and proceeds to tell thses guys what they need to do, in not very nice language. All I could do was listen, and hope they got the message before someone got hurt. I am used to seeing this kind of idiotic ramp etiquette from pleasure boaters, but not bass boaters. Hope they either realize what they were doing wrong, or sell their boats very soon. It may save them from getting their a---- whipped in the future.

Supreme Court and marriage.

I don't understand it!!! It is not that complicated for a nation who claims to be Christian. According to statistics some where around 80% claim they are Christians. Just for the record I do not believe that stat because our nation would be much different if it was true. Our Supreme Court once again has a major decision to make over gay marriage. If we were a nation that stands upon the Word of God this decision would be cut and dried. Look at these scriptures:

Genesis 2:24

24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Proverbs 18:22

He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD

Matthew 19:4-6

"Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh' ? So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

1 Corinthians 7:1-16

Now for the matters you wrote about: It is good for a man not to marry. But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband. The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. The wife's body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the husband's body does not belong to him alone but also to his wife. Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. I say this as a concession, not as a command. I wish that all men were as I am. But each man has his own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that. Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I am. But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion. To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband. But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife. To the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If any brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her. And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him. For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified through her believing husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy. But if the unbeliever leaves, let him do so. A believing man or woman is not bound in such circumstances; God has called us to live in peace. How do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or, how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?

Ephesians 5:22-23

Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.

Colossians 3:18-19

Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.

Hebrews 13:4-7

Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.

Mark 10:6-9

"But at the beginning of creation God 'made them male and female.' 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.' So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

1 Corinthians 6:8-10

8 No, you yourselves do wrong and cheat, and you do these things to your brethren! 9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

Romans 1:26-28

26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;

1 Timothy 1:8-10

8 But we know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully, 9 knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 10 for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine,

Jude 1:7

7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Remember this is God's Word not mine. We are not above God. Man's opinion does not matter when it conflicts with God's Word. Our feelings do not matter when it comes to God's Word. Our love does does not matter when it contradicts God's Word. His Word is the final authority, case closed. If you are a Christian and you disagree with God then you had better check to see if you are really a Christian because God is God and what He says goes. There is no other option.

People will say who are you to judge, I am not the judge God is and I stand upon His Word! He has told us what is sin and right, we must obey and follow. I have given my life to Christ and I will follow his Word til death.

It really isn't that complicated if we will get self out of the way, and follow Jesus. Hate sin, love people, and above all love God!

Tom

Hi,

I don't post here regularly, but seeing that all fishers post here, I thought I'd ask.

I have Bass Pro Shop 360 and 370 boxes that I use for any kind of hard baits such as topwater, spinnerbait, crankbait, and jigs. I even sometime use them for my soft lures, either I take them out of their plastic bag and throw them in the box or I keep them in the plastic bag and tuck them in the boxes.

But lately, I feel uncomfortable about that and I feel there's too much clutter when I do this.

What are the best ways I can store my soft lures other than having to use the 360 or 370 boxes? I know there's a binder that can be found from Tackle Warehouse and Bass Pro Shop, but I am never sure which one is the right one and to maximize my storage for all my soft lures that I have.

Additionally, I am not a pro fisher, I mainly fish from shore, and I will be participating in the tournament as co-angler/non-boater this year. I tend to use a little backpack that can fit up to 3 360s or 370s.

Thanks in advance for your guide!

The 26 Angels Foundation, Inc.

For many people, December 14, 2012, was just another day. Adults went to work, children went to school and others went on with their everyday lives. That was so in Newtown, Connecticut, until a senseless event changed that day and the lives of many forever. From the loss of lives that day, many believe that 26 new angels were created. Since that tragic day, the Newtown community has begun to heal with the support of residents, families, friends and strangers.

A survivor, of the Newtown tragedy, Natalie Hammond, was the lead teacher at The Sandy Hook Elementary School. Natalie and her husband (Jerry) decided that they wanted to help the community that they both cared for greatly.

The 26 Angels Foundation, Inc. was their dream. The foundation was established with the help of fishermen and businessmen that have the goal of helping the Newtown community. The 26 Angels Foundation, Inc. will identify specific individuals, groups and causes, within the Newtown community, and offer assistance through the foundation's fundraising efforts. The hope of the foundation is to provide peace of mind and support to all children, families, residents and the overall community of Newtown.

On May 5, 2013, the foundation's 1st annual benevolent bass fishing tournament will be held on Candlewood Lake in Danbury, Connecticut. This uniquely formatted benevolent tournament will give 100% of the entry fees to the 26 Angels Foundation. The tournament has already drawn entrants from Florida, Wisconsin, Michigan, New Jersey, New York and throughout New England.

During the tournament, the children and families of the Sandy Hook School will be invited to enjoy a day of fun at Danbury Town Park.

The 26 Angels Foundation, Inc. is currently seeking financial donations and/or the donation of goods/services that would be used the day of the event or in the future to help raise money for the foundation. Any amount of contribution is greatly appreciated.

Your generous contribution will enable the 26 Angels Foundation, Inc. to help the residents of Newtown, CT to enjoy a day of fun and to support the community in areas where assistance is needed.

Please feel free to visit their website: www.26angelsfoundation.org.
