    Second-annual event to take place April 5-6
    The 2014 Kentucky High School Athletic Association Bass Fishing State Championship will take place on Kentucky Lake in Gilbertsville, Ky. The second-annual event will feature 46 teams that advanced from four regional championships held across the state April 5-6. A total of 185 teams competed in regionals this season, an increase of 76 percent over the sport’s inaugural 2012-2013 campaign.

    Event scheduled for April 27 on Ross Barnett, open to all Mississippi High School Fishing teams
    The Bass Federation (TBF) and FLW, the world’s largest tournament-fishing organization, have partnered to present the 2014 Mississippi State High School Fishing Championship. The tournament will take place on Ross Barnett Reservoir in Brandon, Miss., and is open to any High School Fishing team in the entire state of Mississippi. The 2014 schedule represents a major expansion of High School Fishing by FLW and The Bass Federation due to an increased demand.

The tournament will take place on Smith Mountain Lake in Wirtz, Va., and is open to any High School Fishing team in the entire state of Virginia.     GROVE, Okla. – The Bass Federation (TBF) and FLW, the world’s largest tournament-fishing organization, will host a Student Angler Federation High School Fishing Open on Grand Lake in Grove, Okla., April 12. The tournament will be held in conjunction with the TBF National Championship, and will offer high school anglers the chance to meet some of the country’s top bass anglers and experience the intensity of the TBF National Championship while testing their own bass-fishing skills against their peers.

    Team breaks record catch with 32 pounds
    Eighty-four teams of the very best high school anglers in Texas competed at the 2014 Texas High School State Championship on Lake Lyndon B Johnson just outside of Marble Falls, Texas. The anglers came ready to fish and the fish were ready to bite. Big fish were caught and records were broken.

    BENTON, KY – Registration for teams participating in the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) bass fishing regionals April 5 and 6 is now open. All registrations will take place at www.highschoolfishing.org. From there you will fill in the information requested and submit your team’s entry.

    Mueller, Edgar representing Kingman Academy/Sandra Day O’Connor High School win tourney title, $5,000 in tuition prizes
    Frankie Mueller and Shane Edgar won the 2014 High School Fishing National Championship on Lake Keowee March 9 with a total catch of 9 pounds, 13 ounces. The team, which won the Western Conference Championship to qualify for nationals, represented the state of Arizona.

    Tournament to take place Feb. 9
    MOORE HAVEN, Fla. – The Bass Federation (TBF) and FLW will host a Student Angler Federation High School Fishing Open on the Caloosahatchee River in Moore Haven, Fla., February 9. The tournament held in conjunction with the Walmart FLW Tour stop in Clewiston, Fla., offers high school anglers the chance to meet the world’s top professional anglers and experience the thrill of FLW Tour competition while testing their own bass-fishing skills against their peers.

    PONCA CITY, Okla. – Since the national introduction of High School Fishing by The Bass Federation (TBF) and FLW under the Student Angler Federation (SAF) umbrella in 2011, participation has more than doubled each year and three states (Kentucky, New Hampshire and Missouri) have joined Illinois in sanctioning bass fishing as an official high school sport. To accommodate rapidly growing demand, SAF will expand its slate of national High School Fishing events and enhance its existing lineup of state and conference championships in 2014.

    Marsh and Boe Claim title for Lake Orion Senior High School
    ROGERS, Ark. – The team of Nick Marsh and Kyle Boe, from Lake Orion High School in Lake Orion, Mich., dominated the field Sunday with five bass weighing 10 pounds, 14 ounces to take the top honors at The Bass Federation (TBF) 2013 High School Fishing National Championship on Beaver Lake. For their efforts, the team won a $10,000 scholarship ($5,000 to each team member).

    High-school seniors from around the country will soon be graduating and many are beginning to make the important decision of where they will be attending college this fall. The presence (or lack) of a bass fishing club has become one of the many deciding factors that students have began to consider when selecting a college. As we enter into the spring of 2013, many young anglers have now made their academic decisions and will pursue success while joining the ranks of college fishing.

    $2,000 in scholarships to be awarded to winning team
    Murray, KY – Murray State University announced it will host the 2013 Murray State High School Fishing Open on Sunday, March 3 in partnership with FLW, The Bass Federation (TBF) and the Bluegrass State Games. The winning team will receive a $2,000 scholarship to attend Murray State while providing all teams the chance to fish Kentucky Lake in advance of the first ever bass-fishing state championship sanctioned by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association.

Teams from across the region were competing and Matt Neiburg and Zach Madsen, both of Blaire, Neb., representing Blair High School, won the tournament, which was also held on Lake Dardanelle, with a five-bass limit weighing 15-0.

    Brother-and-sister duo Chelsey Queen and K.J. Queen of Catawba, N.C., won the High School Fishing Southeastern Conference Championship on Lake Wylie. Eight teams from across the region were competing and the Queens, representing Bandys High School, won the tournament with a five-bass limit weighing 10-7.

    CARBONDALE, Mo. – Wisconsin state champions Kyler Chelminiak and Nicholas Peterson of Whitnall High School won the High School Central Regional tournament held on Kinkaid Lake Saturday. The Whitnall High School team recorded three bass weighing 9 pounds, 9 ounces to beat the Indiana state championship team by 5 pounds, 12 ounces.
