FWC Facts
• Tommy Biffle holds the record of most second-place finishes with three. Unfortunately, he is still chasing his first Forrest Wood Cup victory.
• Michael Bennett and David Fritts are the only two anglers to have an FLW Tour event win and a Forrest Wood Cup victory in the same season. Bennett did it in 2008 by winning the season’s second tour stop at Lewis Smith Lake. Fritts won two events the same season he won the championship. He won at Lake Eufaula and Kentucky Lake in 1997.
• In 2001, the Forrest Wood Cup was scheduled to be held at Lake Champlain in New York, Sept. 12-15. Out of respect to the victims of 9/11, the tournament was canceled. The $450,000 purse was divided among the 100 contestants.
• No angler has yet to win two Forrest Wood Cups or follow up an angler of the year title with a Forrest Wood Cup victory. David Dudley came closest when he finished second in AOY points and won the Forrest Wood Cup in 2003.
