D.C. Waters: A U.S. Coast Guard state boating course and D.C. license is required when fishing D.C. waters. This free safety course can be taken online at www.boatus.com. Fishing License: Maryland and Virginia licenses do reciprocate and may be purchased at Walmart, however fishing above the Woodrow Wilson Bridge does require a D.C. license. All anglers fishing Maryland waters must be prepared to present a valid drivers license or some sort of picture ID along with fishing license.
