    Baldwin wins Piedmont Division event on Smith Mountain Lake

    Boater Chris Baldwin of Lexington, N.C., won the Walmart BFL title on Smith Mountain Lake with an 18-pound, 9-ounce catch. Baldwin won a first-place award of $3,466 at the Piedmont Division event as well as $2,000 for winning the Ranger Cup bonus.

    Boater Chris Baldwin of Lexington, N.C., caught a five-bass limit weighing 18 pounds, 9 ounces March 12 to win $5,466 in the BFL Piedmont Division tournament on Smith Mountain Lake.

    The remaining top-10 boaters from the event included:

    2nd: Brandon Reynolds, Callands, Va., five bass, 17-5, $1,733

    3rd: Ray Emerson Jr., Dry Fork, Va., four bass, 17, $1,155

    4th: Chris Kesler, Virginia Beach, Va., four bass, 16-11, $809

    5th: William Shelton, III, La Crosse, Va., five bass, 14-10, $693

    6th: Donald Sheffey Jr., Concord, Va., five bass, 14-5, $635

    7th: Jerry Lucas, Wake Forest, N.C., five bass, 14, $578

    8th: Dave Murdock, Fayetteville, N.C., four bass, 13-11, $520

    9th: Benjamin Reynolds, Callands, Va., four bass, 13-10, $462

    Condrey nets top spot in Co-angler Division

    Non-boater Dwayne Condrey of Denton, N.C., took home the Walmart BFL title on Smith Mountain Lake with a 13-pound, 9-ounce catch.     5th: Tyler Faggart, Julian, N.C., three bass, 8-2, $347

    6th: Richard Buchanan, Durham, N.C., one bass, 6-12, $318

    7th: Larry Freeman, Baskerville, Va., two bass, 5-13, $289

    8th: Mark Leatherman, Elkton, Va., one bass, 5-12, $260

    9th: Cecil Kinsey, Chesapeake, Va., two bass, 5-8, $231

    10th: Randy Ruffin, Virginia Beach, Va., two bass, 5-6, $202

    The next BFL Piedmont Division tournament is scheduled for April 9 on Jordan Lake in Fuquay Varina, N.C. After the fifth Piedmont Division tournament is complete, the top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings will qualify for the Oct. 20-22 Regional Championship on Lake Chickamauga in Chattanooga, Tenn. Boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger 198VX with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard and a Chevy pick-up, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger 198VX with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard.
