    Merrick makes BFL grade on Old Hickory Lake

    Boater William Merrick of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., earned $4,268 as winner of the Oct. 1-2 BFL Music City Division Super Tournament on Old Hickory Lake.

    Boater William Merrick of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., caught a two-day total of 10 bass weighing 27 pounds, 9 ounces Oct. 1-2 to win $4,268 in the Walmart BFL Music City Division Super Tournament on Old Hickory Lake. Merrick fished midlake with pumpkin-colored jigs to catch his bass.

    Rounding out the remaining top 10 boaters:

    3rd: Terry Steele, Sparta, Tenn., 10 bass, 20-11, $1,423

    4th: Drew Boggs, Lebanon, Tenn., 10 bass, 20-7, $996

    6th: Noel Smith, Ashland City, Tenn., 10 bass, 18-15, $783

    Hicks winning co-angler

    Chris Hicks of Hendersonville, Tenn., earned $2,134 as co-angler winner of the Oct. 1-2 BFL Music City Super Tournament.

    Chris Hicks of Hendersonville, Tenn., caught a two-day total of nine bass weighing 23 pounds, 9 ounces to win $2,134 in the Co-angler Division. Hicks also fished midlake and used a D&L jig to catch his bass.

    Rounding out the remaining top 10 co-anglers:

    3rd: D.J. Boggs, Murfreesboro, Tenn., seven bass, 11-8, $712

    4th: Billy Gardner, Livingston, Tenn., eight bass, 11-3, $498

    5th: Ryan Martin, Hendersonville, Tenn., six bass, 10-11, $427

    6th: Paul Flatt, Cookeville, Tenn., seven bass, 10-10, $391

    7th: Rodney Brown, Whittleyville, Tenn., four bass, 10-7, $356

    8th: Brandon Tramel, Smithville, Tenn., five bass, 10-7, $320

    9th: Delmer Wyatt, Crossville, Tenn., five bass, 9-6, $285

    10th: Derek Stone, Walling, Tenn., four bass, 8-11, $249

    Coming up

    The top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings will qualify for the Oct. 20-22 Regional Championship on Lake Chickamauga in Chattanooga, Tenn. Boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger 198VX with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard and a Chevy pick-up, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger 198VX.
