    Johnston wins Walmart BFL event on Grenada Lake

    Boater Jeff Johnston of Marion, Ark., earned $3,842 as winner of the June 25 BFL Mississippi Division event on Grenada Lake.

    Boater Jeff Johnston of Marion, Ark., caught a five-bass limit weighing 15 pounds, 5 ounces June 25 to win $3,842 in the Walmart BFL Mississippi Division tournament on Grenada Lake. Johnston was fishing shallow in Turkey Creek with Havoc plastics on a black-and-blue jig.

    Rounding out the remaining top 10 boaters:

    3rd: Zack Bull, Arlington, Tenn., five bass, 12-8, $1,282

    4th: Gene Brown, West Point, Miss., five bass, 11-5, $832

    4th: Larry Jenkins, Memphis, Tenn., five bass, 11-5, $832

    6th: Jason Nunley, Iuka, Miss., five bass, 10-11, $672

    6th: Jim Phillips, Greenwood, Miss., five bass, 10-11, $672

    8th: Will Dupler, Columbus, Miss., five bass, 10-8, $576

    9th: John Bailey, Terry, Miss., five bass, 10-5, $512

    Tim Davis of Laurel, Miss., earned $1,921 as co-angler winner of the June 25 BFL Mississippi event.

    Tim Davis of Laurel, Miss., caught a five-bass limit weighing 9 pounds, 8 ounces to win $1,921 in the Co-angler Division. Davis was fishing shallow grass with a swim jig to catch his limit.

    3rd: Kenneth Underwood, Columbus, Miss., five bass, 9-0, $641

    6th: Curtis Powell, Brandon, Miss., five bass, 7-8, $352

    7th: Tildon Drake, Florence, Ala., five bass, 7-7, $320

    Coming up

    The next and final BFL Mississippi Division tournament is scheduled for Sept. 24-25 on Pickwick Lake in Iuka, Miss. After the fifth Mississippi Division tournament is complete, the top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings will qualify for the Oct. 13-15 Regional Championship on Wheeler Lake in Decatur, Ala. Boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger 198VX with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard and a Chevy pick-up, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger 198VX.
