    Chapman best BFL boater at 1000 Islands

    Boater Bill Chapman of Salt Rock, W.Va., earned $3,205 plus a $1,000 Evinrude bonus as winner of the July 23 BFL Northeast Division event at 1000 Islands.

    Boater Bill Chapman of Salt Rock, W. Va., caught a five-bass limit weighing 25 pounds July 23 to win $3,205 plus a $1,000 Evinrude bonus in the Walmart BFL Northeast Division tournament at 1000 Islands. Chapman was drop-shotting tubes in deep water.

    6th: Mike Neilson, Markham, Ontario, five bass, 18-0, $588

    7th: Adam Singer, Brookfield, Conn., five bass, 17-15, $534

    8th: Justin White, Slippery Rock, Pa., five bass, 17-11, $481

    9th: Brian Sanson, Chittenango, N.Y., five bass, 17-4, $427

    Vince Lawyer of Webster, N.Y., caught a five-bass limit weighing 22 pounds, 7 ounces to win $1,603 in the Co-angler Division. Lawyer was also drop-shotting tubes in deep water.

    Coming up

    The next BFL Northeast Division tournament is scheduled for Aug. 20 on Oneida Lake in Brewerton, N.Y. After the fifth Northeast Division tournament is complete, the top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings will qualify for the Oct. 13-15 Regional Championship on Smith Mountain Lake in Huddleston, Va.. Boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger 198VX with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard and a Chevy pick-up, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger 198VX.
