    Freeze best BFL boater on High Rock Lake

    Boater Maurice Freeze of Concord, N.C., won the May 15 BFL North Carolina Division tournament on High Rock Lake to earn $6,679.

    Boater Maurice Freeze of Concord, N.C., caught a five-bass limit weighing 19 pounds, 11 ounces Saturday to win $3,679 plus a $2,000 Ranger bonus and $1,000 Evinrude bonus in the BFL North Carolina Division tournament on High Rock Lake. Freeze was flipping a Reaction Innovations Sweet Beaver on a jig around docks to bag his limit.

    Rounding out the top 10 boaters:

    2nd: Michael Hedgecock, High Point, N.C., five bass, 18-15, $1,840

    3rd: Jason Wilson, Bessemer City, N.C., five bass, 18-5, $1,225

    4th: Kevin Chandler, New London, N.C., five bass, 17-8, $859

    5th: Jeff Chandler, New London, N.C., five bass, 17-7, $736

    6th: Jeff Hager, Alexis, N.C., five bass, 17-5, $675

    7th: Darren Gay, Richfield, N.C., five bass, 16-10, $613

    8th: Wayne Hauser, Mooresville, N.C., five bass, 16-4, $552

    Brad Wright of Granite Falls, N.C., won the May 15 BFL North Carolina Division tournament in the Co-angler Division to earn $1,840.Brad Wright of Granite Falls, N.C., caught a five-bass limit weighing 16 pounds, 5 ounces to win $3,679 in the Co-angler Division on High Rock Lake. He was fishing a jig around docks to catch his limit.

    Coming up

    The next BFL North Carolina Division tournament is scheduled for June 19 at High Rock Lake in Salisbury, N.C. After the fifth North Carolina Division tournament is complete, the top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings will qualify for the Oct. 7-9 Regional Championship at the Potomac River in Woodbridge, Va., where boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger 198VX with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Yamaha outboard and a Chevy pick-up, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger 198VX.
