Mississippi River/La Crosse (May 15, 2010)
Boater Paul Malone of Pleasant Valley, Iowa, caught a five-bass limit weighing 18 pounds, 8 ounces Saturday to win $4,830 in the BFL Great Lakes Division tournament on the Mississippi River near La Crosse, Wis. He was swimming a jig through weed clumps under cloudy skies to sack his limit.

Doty winning co-angler
Dave Doty of Cottage Grove, Minn., caught four bass weighing 14 pounds, 2 ounces to win $2,415 in the Co-angler Division on the Mississippi River. Under cloudy skies, he was using a Booyah jig in about 1 to 3 feet of water to bag his winning fish.

The next BFL Great Lakes Division tournament is scheduled for June 19 at Lake Winneconne in Winneconne, Wis. After the fifth Great Lakes Division tournament is complete, the top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings will qualify for the Oct. 21-23 Regional Championship at Kentucky Lake in Gilbertsville, Ky., where boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger 198VX with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Yamaha outboard and a Chevy pick-up, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger 198VX.
