    Thompson takes BFL title on Arkansas River

    Boater Michael Thompson of Broken Arrow, Okla., caught a five-bass limit weighing 16 pounds, 8 ounces Saturday to win $3,632 in the BFL Okie Division tournament on the Arkansas River.

    Boater Michael Thompson of Broken Arrow, Okla., caught a five-bass limit weighing 16 pounds, 8 ounces Saturday to win $3,632 in the FLW BFL Okie Division tournament on the Arkansas River. Thompson was finesse-fishing six miles upstream with soft plastics to catch his limit.

    Rounding out the top 10 boaters:

    2nd: Shonn Goodwin, Moore, Okla., five bass, 15-5, $1,816

    3rd: Jerry Corbett, Chouteau, Okla., five bass, 14-6, $1,210

    4th: Lance Pshigoda, Broken Arrow, Okla., five bass, 13-15, $847

    5th: Joe Erwin, Claremore, Okla., five bass, 13-6, $726

    6th: Allen Rude, Wynnewood, Okla., five bass, 13-1, $666

    7th: John Shore, Owasso, Okla., four bass, 12-12, $605

    8th: Jason Wedel, Lowell, Okla., five bass, 12-6, $545

    9th: Edward Broaddrick, Tulsa, Okla., five bass, 12-3, $484

    Gary Snyder of Bixby, Okla., earned $1,816 as the Co-angler Division winner in the BFL Okie Division event.

    Gary Snyder of Bixby, Okla., caught a five-bass limit weighing 13 pounds, 6 ounces to win $1,816 in the Co-angler Division on the Arkansas River. Snyder was fishing the Halton Pool using a finesse worm to sack his limit.

    3rd: Randy Staton, Fort Gibson, Okla., four bass, 8-7, $606

    4th: Matt Ellis, Muskogee, Okla., three bass, 8-6, $424

    5th: Kevin Slate, Choctaw, Okla., two bass, 7-15, $363

    6th: Wesley Potter, Colcord, Okla., three bass, 7-6, $333

    7th: Bill Bean, Eufaula, Okla., three bass, 7-5, $303

    8th: Travis Edwards, Edmond, Okla., four bass, 6-13, $272

    9th: James Nuckols, Springdale, Ark., two bass, 6-12, $242

    Coming up

    The next and last BFL Okie Division tournament of 2010 is scheduled for Sept. 18-19, a Super Tournament at Grand Lake in Grove, Okla. After that the top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings will qualify for the Oct. 14-16 Regional Championship at Lake Texoma in Denison, Texas, where boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger 198VX with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Yamaha outboard and a Chevy pick-up, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger 198VX.
