Gillfillan wins BFL event on Ohio River
Boater Jay Gillfillan of Ridgeway, Ohio, caught four bass weighing 5 pounds, 11 ounces Saturday to win $3,505 plus a $2,000 Ranger Cup bonus in the BFL Buckeye Division tournament on the Ohio River. On a hot and sunny day, Gillfillan was using Reaction Innovations Beavers and Zoom Brush Hogs at the mouth of the creek to catch his winning sack.

4th: Robert Otto, Dayton, Ohio, three bass, 4-9, $818
5th: Mike Combs, Frenchburg, Ky., two bass, 4-4, $701
6th: James Richardson Jr., Cincinnati, one bass, 4-1, $643

Gary Hoffman of Stoutsville, Ohio, caught two bass weighing 4 pounds, 4 ounces Saturday to win $1,753 in the Co-angler Division on the Ohio River. He was using frogs and Senkos at Crooked Creek to catch his bass.

The next BFL Buckeye Division tournament is scheduled for Aug. 21 at the Ohio River in Carrollton, Ky. After the fifth Buckeye Division tournament is complete, the top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings will qualify for the Oct. 21-23 Regional Championship at Kentucky Lake in Gilbertsville, Ky., where boaters will compete for a top prize of a Ranger 198VX with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Yamaha outboard and a Chevy pick-up, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger 198VX.
