    King crowned champ of BFL event on Lake Wateree

    Boater Wayne King of Sumter, S.C., won the June 22 BFL South Carolina Division tournament on Lake Wateree to earn $3,804.

    Boater Wayne King of Sumter, S.C., caught a five-bass limit weighing 21 pounds, 1 ounce Saturday to win $3,804 in the BFL South Carolina Division tournament on Lake Wateree. Under cloudy skies, King fished around docks in shallow grass, using a jig with a Zoom trailer to sack his limit.

    Rounding out the top 10 boaters:

    3rd: Shane Lineberger, Lincolnton, N.C., five bass, 18-7, $1,267

    4th: Michael Maxfield, Hanahan, S.C., five bass, 18-1, $888

    5th: Jeremiah Jensen, Columbia, S.C., five bass, 17-6, $761

    6th: Glenn Altman, Marion, S.C., five bass, 16-4, $697

    7th: Brian Holder, Gastonia, N.C., five bass, 15-12, $1,634*

    Moore winning co-angler

    Kenneth Moore of Fort Mill, S.C., was the co-angler winner of the June 22 BFL South Carolina Division tournament on Lake Wateree, earning $1,902.Kenneth Moore of Fort Mill, S.C., caught a five-bass limit weighing 17 pounds, 4 ounces to win $1,902 in the Co-angler Division on Lake Wateree. Moore was using topwater swimbaits in shallow grass to bag his limit.

    Coming up

    The next BFL South Carolina Division tournament is scheduled for Sept. 11-12, a Super Tournament, at Lake Wylie in Lake Wylie, S.C. After the fifth South Carolina Division tournament is complete, the top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings will qualify for the Oct. 14-16 Regional Championship at Lake Guntersville in Scottsboro, Ala., where boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger 198VX with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Yamaha outboard and a Chevy pick-up, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger 198VX.
