After competing in local bass tournaments throughout his younger years, Hauser decided to attend college at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington. After graduating with a business degree, Hauser became an investment counselor and worked at a southeastern regional bank for thirteen years. In 2006 he left the banking industry behind and decided to pursue his dream as a professional fisherman.
Hauser is fishing his first season on the Tour from the front of the boat in 2013. He has previous Tour experience as a co-angler and has been fishing all levels of the FLW circuits on and off since 1996. The majority of his top-10 finishes have come as a professional.
